3 DAY ALL-ART WORKSHOP FOR KIDS APRIL 19-21 1-4pm Only 4,500 Baht

Instructor: Aakriti Sultania. Started out as an expatriate wife in Bangkok. Now teaches art at Shrewsbury and FADD.

Using an inflated balloon, newsprint paper strips, colored paper strips, flour/water, glue and cardboard, kids will learn to make a pinata papier mache. The pinata is used in many children's parties. It originated in Spanish-speaking communities, usually a decorated figure of an animal containing candies and small toys. It is suspended from a height and beaten open by blindfolded children as part of a celebration.

Day 1  Pinata Papier Mache

Day 2  Acrylic Painting

Using fast-drying acrylic paints, water and brushes, kids will learn some step by step acrylic painting techniques including mixing colors to create their chosen subject on canvas. Simple shapes like flowers, trees, trucks, kites, animal figures will be suggested.

Day 3  Pop-up Cards and Quilling

Learn the art of quilling or paper filigree, an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is rolled, looped, curled, twisted and manipulated to create shapes which make up designs to decorate greeting cards, pictures, boxes, eggs, and to make models, jewelry, mobiles, etc. Quilling starts with rolling a strip of paper into a coil and then pinching the coil into shapes that can be glued together. There are advanced techniques and differed sized paper that are used to create 3D miniatures, abstract art, and quilled flowers among others. The class will allow for two quilled creations. Pop-up cards are a a great twist on the ordinary greeting card. They are enormously fun (and easy) to create, and the recipient of your card will be delighted. We will also learn about the fun and appealing yet easy techniques to make 3D pop up cards. The kids will be able to design two pop-up cards of their own.
