Sculpture Class for Beginners

 

This one week intense course runs from Monday to Friday, from 10 am till 16 pm

Course fee : 12.000 Baht including use of tools and material

Maximum number of students : 5

Location : Ocean Marina Yacht club studio, Najomtien (Pattaya), Transportation to and from Bangkok is provided

Accomodation is not provided, but there are several hotels and resorts nearby to stay overnight

Sculpting – the art of transforming material into 3D shapes – is a pleasant, intense and rewarding experience.  It is an art form that dates back to the pre-historic era when stone was shaped for the first time.   Sculpting and modeling are the traditional techniques used in sculpture but nowadays there are plenty of new techniques and materials that offers the artist endless possibilities.

 

Session 1 : Introduction to sculpture : general topic, metal, stone, concrete, wood, clay, glass, silicone, other…

Inspiring examples and how to start a project

Using plaster and casting a block of plaster to use for the next session

 

Session 2 : First plaster project – carving

Preparing your workspace, carving, applying texture and finishing

 

Session 3 : Direct modeling with plaster

Setting up a supporting structure (armature), applying plaster, finishing

 

Session 4 : Direct modeling with papier mache

Setting up a supporting structure (armature), making paper pulp = papier mache, finishing

 

Session 5 : Making a mould from own body part

Filling the mold with clay, shape the clay project

 

At the end of the course you should have 4 finished pieces of art
