Schedule: Daily 10am - 7pm

Course Fee : 15,000 baht

Instructor: Ric Hizon

This 10 week scenework class will give the actor all the hands-on coaching they'll need to formulate a definitive process for working on any play or film. Students will explore a "grab-bag" of techniques for developing character, understanding relationships onstage and find the secret of what makes a performance truthful and compelling.

Unit 1: Setting the Scene
The actors will be put into groups to work on a given scene, first exploring structure and narrative:
How will the world of the play shape their performance?
What is the agreed-upon context that forms and drives the narrative?
and How will this be conveyed in performance?

Unit 2: Building a Character
Actors will focus on how to transform into the characters they will portray by understanding:
The external nature of the character that is presented explicitly
The internal nature of the character that ticks away behind the scenes
How to build and exploit an effective "backstory" to truly understand where the     character is coming from
We'll use visualisation and improv techniques to help build and refine your performance, until not even your own mother would recognise the person standing in front of her!

Unit 3: Action!
Actors will get hands-on with the techniques and practices of the great acting teachers or yore, and see how to put these notions into action as the scene plays out.
What does my character want to achieve?
    Why do they want it?
    How will they get it?

Tackling these major points will turn any performance into the tear-jerker, spine-chiller or ROFLator that it was always meant to be! So whether you're a veteran of the stage looking to brush up your skills, or a novice with a burning desire to make the crowd laugh and weep, come in for an afternoon of intense and formative coaching, and be prepared to surprise yourself.
